Over 700 people saw the films screened during the European Film Month 2023 in Chisinau

Overall, during the European Film Month in Chisinau, 6 full-length and 5 short films were screened. All of them participated in or were awarded at world-famous International Film Festivals

On Friday, November 24, the last movie participating in the European Film Month 2023 in Chisinau was screened at Cineplex Loteanu. The audience watched the film “Nu aștepta prea multe de la sfârșitul lumii”, written and directed by Radu Jude. This year, the movie was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno International Film Festival. After the film, the audience had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the film’s screenwriter and director.

Overall, during the European Film Month in Chisinau, 6 full-length and 5 short films were screened. All of them participated in or were awarded at world-famous International Film Festivals, including the Cannes International Film Festival (“Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Triet), the Berlinale (“20,000 Species of Bees” by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren), the Sarajevo Film Festival (“Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry” by Elene Naveriani) and the Sundance Film Festival (“Slow” by Marija Kavtaradze).

More than 700 people saw the films during the month. The movies were screened in the original language, with Romanian or English subtitles, and all the seats were booked a few days before the screening.

The European Film Month is one of the most important cinematographic events in Europe, which took place for the first time in Chisinau, simultaneously with more than 45 other cities from all over Europe, with the support of the European Film Academy. The European Film Month 2023 in Chisinau was initiated by the National Cinematography Center and organized with the financial support of the European Union by the Main Information Center of the EU in Moldova, Europe Café.
