Support for local entrepreneurship: 26.3 million lei in grants for 75 companies in the Republic of Moldova

The Government of the Republic of Moldova, together with the European Union, through the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development under the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, has awarded 26.3 million lei in grants to 75 local companies. The total investment generated by these grants in the economy amounts to over 51.3 million lei.

The grants are distributed through various programs managed by ODA. Through the Digital Transformation Program for Small and Medium Enterprises, 46 companies will receive grants totaling 12.3 million lei, with estimated investments of 20.7 million lei in the national economy. These funds will be used for the acquisition and implementation of digital technologies.

Under the Women Entrepreneurship Support Program, 16 companies will benefit from grants totaling 5.7 million lei. The implementation of these investment projects is expected to generate a total investment of 12 million lei in the economy. The funded initiatives focus on business development in sectors such as milling, bakery and pastry production, healthcare, and education.

Through the Small and Medium Enterprises Retooling and Energy Efficiency Program, eight companies from various industries will receive grants totaling 5.8 million lei. These funds will support investments estimated at 13.6 million lei, contributing to the modernization and efficiency of production processes.

Additionally, five companies will develop their businesses through the “PARE 1+2” Remittances Attraction Program, benefiting from non-reimbursable financial support totaling 2.4 million lei. This funding will generate nearly 5 million lei in economic investments.

Of the 75 companies receiving grants, 65 are funded by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with 23 million lei, while 10 companies receive financial support from the European Union, totaling 3.3 million lei.

During the event, Eugeniu Harabara, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, emphasized the importance of supporting entrepreneurs:

“The government’s support is a firm commitment to assist every entrepreneur and every business contributing to the country’s economic development in overcoming challenges.

The Republic of Moldova needs more courageous entrepreneurs who think long-term and are motivated to actively contribute to positive change in their communities, driving progress and strengthening the national economy.

I encourage you to demonstrate the same perseverance and dedication. Every step you take contributes to the change we all aspire to, and your success is the success of the entire country,” stated Eugeniu Harabara.

Miroslav Bozic, Program Officer at the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Moldovan authorities for economic development:

“Support for entrepreneurship and the sustainable development of SMEs is a core component of our partnership with the Republic of Moldova. We are pleased to see a continuous increase in the number of high-quality applications for national SME programs supported by the EU, as well as the growing number of businesses benefiting from these programs. The EU will continue to support SMEs as a major driving force for a stronger Moldovan economy, which is also a key pillar of the recently proposed EU Growth Plan for Moldova,” stated Miroslav Bozic.

Vadim Codreanu, Director of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, emphasized the impact of these funds on the entrepreneurial environment:

“We are grateful for the significant support provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Union, and the World Bank Group, which contribute substantial financial assistance to all programs managed by ODA. In this context, I would like to highlight the importance of the Local Producers Competitiveness Growth Program and their integration into value chains—a recently launched program offering significant opportunities for business development. I encourage you to apply for all active programs, including this one! Each company can access up to 2 million lei through this program,” stated Vadim Codreanu.

Since the beginning of 2025, ODA has recorded 136 companies that have obtained grants totaling 69.3 million lei, support that will generate 147.6 million lei in economic investments.

Of these, 114 are funded from the state budget, 14 receive financial support from the European Union through the “European Union for Small and Medium Enterprises” project, seven companies have obtained funding through the “DOMDE 2” project, financed by the European Union and implemented with support from the International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the Migration Partnership Facility, through ODA, Veneto Lavoro, and BRD, while one company has been funded from World Bank Group resources.
