The EU Delegation recognised for its contribution to Moldova’s regional development
The event marking the 15th anniversary of Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) in the Republic of Moldova brought together, in a festive setting, representatives of the country’s leadership, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, and beneficiaries of regional development projects.
The pivotal role of the strong partnership between national authorities, Regional Development Agencies, local public authorities, and international partners was prominently highlighted.
“These achievements are the result of a collective effort, to which national, local, and regional authorities, Regional Development Agencies, social partners, academia, non-governmental organisations, and our international partners have all contributed. The European Union, alongside Germany, Poland, Romania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, and organisations such as GIZ, KfW, the World Bank, and the Solidarity Fund PL, has been a cornerstone of support for these advancements. Our collaboration demonstrates that regional development transcends borders, being founded on solidarity, a shared vision, and concrete actions,” emphasised Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea.
Notable progress includes the modernisation of water and sewage systems, the rehabilitation of local and regional roads, the improvement of energy efficiency in schools, kindergartens, and medical institutions, the growth of businesses, urban revitalisation, and the restoration of tourist attractions. Over the past 15 years, the RDAs have implemented 201 regional development projects: 70 in the North, 75 in the Centre, and 56 in the South.
Regarding strategic priorities, Deputy Prime Minister Bolea highlighted that the Government and the ministry will continue significant investments in regional infrastructure, enhancing regional competitiveness, and promoting renewable energy sources.
“We envision strong regions with thriving economies, modern infrastructure, and high-quality services for our citizens. We will continue to attract investment, expertise, and technical support for our projects. Let us persist with the same energy and determination in building a prosperous and equitable future for all citizens of the Republic of Moldova and its regions,” the minister concluded.
