The european union continues to support civil society in the republic of Moldova

On the 1 February 2021 a new project was launched “Local civil society contributes to the inclusive and sustainable economic development of the country”, funded by the European Union and co-financed by Sweden. The duration of the project implementation is 40 months. The East Europe Foundation, as leading partner, together with its partners – the Contact Centre and the European Business Association, will support civil society organisations in developing three platforms to facilitate the promotion of more inclusive policies in the fields of business and employment, trade, social entrepreneurship, including 10 entrepreneurship funds that will financially support the economic activity of young NEETs; 10 CSO consortia that will design and implement inclusive employment services for vulnerable groups; 15 social enterprises, integrating vulnerable groups on the labour market and 6 regional business support centres. The project comprises four interconnected components: (1) advocacy for more inclusive trade and employment policies, (2) integration into employment, (3) social entrepreneurship and (4) access to the EU market. The current project aims to empower vulnerable women and men by creating sustainable economic opportunities, reap the benefits of AA / DCFTA and prepare the population for economic risk management (such as the COVID-19 pandemic) through the active involvement of civil society. The final beneficiaries of this project are vulnerable women and men from the following categories: migrant workers, young people, people with special needs, unemployed due to pandemic such as COVID-19, elderly people with special needs, etc.

The joint efforts of the implementing partners and CSOs will be focused on achieving specific results, such as:

  • at least 25 policy proposals will be developed and presented to the relevant authorities and supported by CSOs; • at least 15 sustainable social enterprises developed with the support of the project;
  • at least 10 CSO consortia created, which implement joint initiatives aimed at facilitating the learning and employment of vulnerable groups;
  • consolidated capacities of 6 business support centres in the development of the value chain of SMEs in the region;
  • at least 200 SMEs supported by business support centres;
  • at least 10 youth entrepreneurship funds provide support for business creation and development for at least 60 youth-run enterprises;
  • at least 20 local companies ensure the quality of their own products, access financing and manage to export to the EU.
