The European Union Supports the Inclusion of Students with Special Educational Needs
The NGO Prietena Mea has successfully completed the second edition of the project Learning the Language of Acceptance, which took place from October 2024 to May 2025 in 15 schools from the model institutions network.
Implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova and People in Need, with support from the European Union, the project addressed the challenges of integrating students with special educational needs, as well as those from disadvantaged backgrounds or newly formed communities. Through training, mentoring, and active involvement, Prietena Mea aimed to help schools develop a more empathetic and inclusive culture.

Nationally, 30 students and 15 teachers took part in a hands-on learning process focused on inclusion, empathy, nonviolent communication, and civic engagement. More than just a series of trainings, the project created real opportunities for active participation. Students not only strengthened their skills, but also inspired their peers to get involved in campaigns, initiatives, and events promoting the value of diversity.
“When students begin to speak openly about differences and organize campaigns that include all their peers, the school becomes a true space of acceptance. This edition of the project showed us that real change starts within the community,” said Ludmila Adamciuc, President of Prietena Mea.

The final event, held in Chișinău, was more of a reflective exercise. Each team created a wall newspaper on the spot, using words and images to express what Learning the Language of Acceptance meant to them. These posters were displayed during a school fair — a true gallery of student-driven initiatives.
The end of this second edition doesn’t mark the end of the journey. Beyond the campaigns, brochures, or events, what remains is a community of students and teachers who have found their voices and discovered that they can make a difference. And Prietena Mea will continue to support them by providing space for learning, inspiration, and growth.
