The only Latin-script school in Tiraspol marks its 30th anniversary
The only Latin-script school in Tiraspol, the ‘Lucian Blaga’ Public Lyceum, marks in 2021 its 30th anniversary – since 1991, the institution is the only one in Tiraspol attended by pupils who wish to study in Latin script.
On the occasion of the anniversary, but also to mark the approaching winter season holidays, a ceremony was organised, attended by officials from the Bureau of Reintegration and Ministry of Education and Research, accompanied by the EU High Level Adviser on Confidence Building Measures.
The interim director of the Lyceum, Ms Liuba Cornitel, mentioned in her speech the utmost importance of providing support to the only Latin-script school in Tiraspol, which brings together also kids from nearby villages: “Over the years, the school managed to resist, despite the encountered challenges and difficulties and we hope that it will be here for those wanting to study in Romanian for many more years.” She also expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Research and the European Union for the constant help provided in the educational process.
The EU High Level Adviser on Confidence Building Measures, Kalman Mizsei, congratulated the teachers and the pupils of the Lyceum on the occasion of the anniversary, expressing his best wishes for the upcoming winter holidays.
During the ceremony, pupils and teachers received necessary stationery and supplies, backpacks, as well as sweets, purchased with the help of the EU-funded project ‘Support to the implementation of the European Union High Level Advisers’ Mission’.
The ‘Lucian Blaga’ public school in Tiraspol is attended by 215 pupils of grades 1 – 12, from Tiraspol and nearby villages.
