The Triumphal Arch and the Soroca Fortress, illuminated in the colours of the European Union flag on the occasion of Europe Day 2022

Together we marked the European values, freedom, democracy, and solidarity for peace. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova from all over the country celebrated Europe Day 2022. At the invitation of the European Union Delegation, people from Chisinau, Ungheni, Edinet, Soroca and Stefan Voda joined the European Village in their locality.

Those wishing to celebrate Europe Day 2022 enjoyed a fun programme designed for all tastes and ages. The guests of the European Village had the opportunity to get closer to the culture and values of the European Union, getting involved in the activities organised such as: interactive games, quizzes, discussions, etc. The most ingenious took part in competitions and tested their knowledge about the European Union and its Member States.

In addition to the interactive activities organised for children and adults, all those interested in capturing the most beautiful moments spent with loved ones in the European Village had the opportunity to do it. We made sure they will leave the event holding their printed photos. Our engaging activities were also complemented by discussions on the European Union’s contribution to the development of the people’s localities. Our guests had the opportunity to learn more about what the European Union’s projects implemented and the results of these initiatives.

In Chisinau, the members of the EU Information Centres and Euro Clubs took to the streets with slogans and placards to mark the Europe Day 2022. The young people from the EU Information Centres and the Euro Clubs from Chisinau and Straseni organised a flash mob on the “Piața Marii Adunări Naționale”. In other localities, the members of the centres were involved in organising the activities carried out in the European Village.

The artistic programme was followed by exceptional concerts. Artists from Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova performed on stage to mark Europe Day 2022. With the sunset, for the first time, the Triumphal Arch from the capital and the Soroca Fortress, restored with the financial support of the European Union, were illuminated in EU colours. The most important information centre of the European Union, Europe Café, also hosted a light show dedicated to European solidarity.
