The EU-funded TOPCOP project (Training and Operational Partnership against Organised Crime), coordinated by the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) and supported by the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol), has held its first Strategic Cooperation Forum.

This high-level event paves the way for a long-standing partnership between senior law enforcement decision-makers of Eastern partner countries and CEPOL, in close coordination with EUROPOL, in fighting serious and international organised crime.

The participants agreed on a set of a high-level law enforcement and cooperation priorities, which will be integrated into a training portfolio for capacity building of the law enforcement in the Eastern partner countries. The training portfolio design will be developed by CEPOL, while Europol will lead the Threat Assessment component of the project.

CEPOL will convene this type of meetings periodically to revise and verify the relevance of the priorities, and, if necessary, recommend adjustments.

TOPCOP aims to improve operational effectiveness and foster more cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of the EU Member States and the Eastern Partner countries.
