Welcome to the “History of Eve” painting exhibition at Europe Café
“The History of Eve” by Natalya Yampolskaya delves into the depth, drama, and ambivalence of the archetypal image of femininity. Who is Eve in the history of European culture? How has the portrayal of women evolved over time?
One of the European Union’s goals, through its projects in Moldova, is to empower women in culture, business, politics, and civil life, contributing to the development of a prosperous, peaceful, and just society. “The History of Eve” exhibition provides a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the symbolism of femininity and the evolving role of women in society.
Join us on 14 November 2024, at 18:00, for the opening of this unique exhibition by Natalia Yampolskaya at Europe Café. Natalia, originally from the city of Tighina, is an artist whose work we are delighted to host for the second time. “The History of Eve” showcases a collection of abstract paintings alongside original felt panels. The exhibition’s artistic narrative is enriched by a text written by Noa Delfi (Ekaterina Bulipopova) specifically for this event.
“The History of Eve” highlights a different vision of female creativity. Women, by nature, possess a unique ability to create life at a molecular level. In many European cultures, however, the term “creator” is often considered masculine, while women’s roles are frequently confined to motherhood and domestic responsibilities. Why does this imbalance exist? Why are war stories deemed more significant than family narratives? The artworks on display explore these questions, offering an authentic female perspective.
At the exhibition opening, curator Ekaterina Bulipopova will deliver a lecture on “Archetypal Female Figures in European Art”. We look forward to welcoming you as we explore femininity through art at Europe Café. The exhibition will run until the end of November and can be visited Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 18:00.
