The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova organised on Thursday, 5 September, the 5th edition of the European Civil Society Awards Gala, an event aimed at promoting and supporting the activities of the associative sector. Civil society organisations (CSOs) that have demonstrated excellence and outstanding results in their fields of activity, through transparent and efficient use of the financial support provided by the European Union, were awarded today at an event attended by representatives of CSOs, the EU Delegation in Chișinău, public authorities and mass media.

Organisations were rewarded for their significant contribution to the sustainable development of local communities, the promotion of more transparent governance, the development of the social sector, significant progress in the green economy and the strengthening of society’s resilience to misinformation and manipulation. Special attention was given to those CSOs that have achieved tangible results at the local level, reflecting one of the priorities of EU assistance to strengthen civil society throughout the country.

The awarded organisations were selected based on their positive impact on society and the way they have managed to mobilise and inspire local communities.

The winners of the fifth Civil Society Awards are:

  • Public Association “Institutum Virtutes Civilis” – Stronger Governance Award
  • Public Association “Filantropia Creștină” from Orhei – Stronger Society Award
  • Public Association “Agency for Innovation and Development” from Tiraspol – Stronger Economy Award
  • Public Association “La Strada” – Gender Champion Award
  • Public Association “Alianța pentru Eficiență Energetică și Regenerabile” – Green and Sustainable Development Award
  • Public Association “Aripile Dumbravei” from Volovița village, Soroca district – Stronger Resilience to Disinformation Award

One of the objectives of European Union assistance is to create equal chances and opportunities for all. In this context, I am delighted that this year’s Civil Society Awards Gala brings together winners from different regions of the Republic of Moldova. The prizes awarded at the Civil Society Gala also reflect our appreciation for the people who work in these organisations, for their dedication and passion, but also for taking responsibility to bring change for the better in the localities of the Republic of Moldova,” said Jānis MAŽEIKS, European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.

The Civil Society Organisations Awards Ceremony was broadcast on the online platforms of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova and national media institutions.
