EU and EBRD strengthen support for Moldovan government’s reform agenda
The government of the Republic of Moldova will receive additional expertise to accelerate the country’s development programme as part of the Reform Support Team project, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The agreement to extend the project was signed by Government Secretary General Alexei Buz, EU Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Iwona Piórko and EBRD Vice-President Matteo Patrone on 5 March.
The document provides for the creation of 20 new expert positions, which will be actively involved in key central government institutions. They will contribute to the development and implementation of public policy and investment projects, including in the areas of infrastructure, economic development, agriculture, energy and the environment.
The initiative is being implemented by the EBRD since 2023 and aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of public authorities involved in implementing government priorities. To date, more than 60 experts have been assigned to ministries and institutions.
