A New Nursery Group to Be Opened in Cantemir – Renovation Works Begin at Early Education Institution No. 2 “Spiriduș”

30/07/2026

The NGO “Vision and Progress”, in partnership with the Cantemir Town Hall and Early Education Institution No. 2 “Spiriduș”, has launched renovation works to prepare a dedicated space for a new nursery group for children up to the age of three.

The works are being carried out under the project “Support for Parents, Care for Children”, which aims to expand access to early childhood education and care services for families in Cantemir, while also supporting parents in vulnerable situations to return to or integrate into the labour market.

The need for such a service is significant. At present, there is no public nursery group operating in the town of Cantemir, and the lack of childcare services for young children limits many parents’—especially mothers’—ability to return to work.

The space provided by the Cantemir Town Hall is located within Early Education Institution No. 2 “Spiriduș”. Renovation works will include refurbishing and adapting the sanitary facilities, playroom, and sleeping room to meet the needs of young children. Planned works include demolition and reconstruction of certain areas, upgrading the plumbing system, installing sanitary fixtures, renovating walls and ceilings, replacing flooring, installing lighting, electrical outlets and switches, as well as improving the ventilation system.

The renovation is expected to be completed within two months, allowing the nursery group to open this autumn. Once the works are finalized, the space will be equipped with age-appropriate furniture, equipment, and educational materials. The objective is to create a safe, comfortable, and functional environment where children can benefit from quality care and educational activities suited to their stage of development.

The new nursery group is expected to provide services for approximately 8–15 children under the age of three, including children from vulnerable families. In parallel, the project will support at least 25 parents and caregivers through information sessions, counselling and career guidance, parenting support activities, and assistance in connecting with employment services and local employers.

The “Support for Parents, Care for Children” project is implemented by the NGO “Vision and Progress” with financial support from the European Union under the project “Improved Local Employment Opportunities and Access to Nurseries for Parents in Vulnerable Situations”, co-funded and implemented by the Soros Foundation Moldova in partnership with Keystone Moldova and the Expert-Grup Public Association.
