EU supports business development in the Republic of Moldova: a producer of thermal insulation materials expands production with a 500,000 lei grant

The company Polistiren-Construct, one of the important producers of expanded polystyrene and studded insulation boards in the Republic of Moldova, has expanded its production capacity with the help of a 500,000 lei grant, provided from the state budget with EU support through the Growth Plan.

The company exports its products monthly to Ukraine and Romania, while steadily growing demand has prompted it to invest in new production equipment.

“We specialise in thermal insulation for houses, apartment buildings and roofs, as well as in the production of studded boards for underfloor heating systems. Demand for our products is growing, including in external markets,” says Dragoș Ursu, a representative of Polistiren-Construct.

The new equipment cost 3 million lei, of which 500,000 lei was covered by the grant. Following the purchase of the equipment, the company introduced a two-shift work schedule, enabling it to increase production and sales volumes.

For the company, the financial support also meant that part of its resources could be directed towards other investments needed for its development.

“If we had purchased the equipment through a bank loan or using our own funds, we would have had to make a much greater financial effort. We would have been limited to investing in the equipment and, for example, would have had to postpone the purchase of new vehicles needed to make deliveries more efficient,” explains Dragoș Ursu.

The grants are provided from the state budget by the Government of the Republic of Moldova, with financial support from the European Union through the Growth Plan for Moldova.
