From social services to education, sports and business, European Union investments in Orhei respond to concrete needs of people in the city and villages. At district level, a €2 million EU grant contributed to the construction of an ecological wastewater treatment plant that treats 60% of the wastewater from the city and nearby villages — making the Orhei wastewater treatment plant one of the largest in Europe.
But EU investments do not stop there. In Isacova, 2 million lei helped a business develop its briquette and pellet production, turning plant waste into energy. In the village of Peresecina, a centre for children and vulnerable families uses almost 30% less energy thanks to European support for energy efficiency, while in Camencea a nursery group was created so that parents can return to work more easily.
EU support also reaches students, entrepreneurs, social enterprises and people in vulnerable situations. European investments translate into concrete services and opportunities for residents of the district.

Ecological wastewater treatment plant – cleaner water for Orhei and neighbouring villages
The project has a total value of approximately €4.8 million, of which €2 million is an EU grant. The plant covers five hectares and treats 60% of the wastewater from the city of Orhei and the localities of Pelivan and Burcuta, using environmentally friendly, automated technology with low maintenance costs.
BioBrichet Grup – energy from plant waste
In Isacova, the company BioBrichet Grup received a €2 million EU grant, accessed through the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). The investment was directed towards expanding the production capacity for biomass briquettes and pellets, increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of the business.
Generația PRO Centre – lower energy bills
The community centre in Peresecina, which supports children and vulnerable families, has become more energy efficient thanks to a €87,750 European investment. Energy consumption has fallen by almost 30%, while the savings can be used to improve the services provided to beneficiaries.
Nursery in Camencea – support for children and parents
An investment of €59,000 made it possible to create a group for children aged six months to three years. Children benefit from early education and care in safe conditions, while parents can return to work without losing their years of employment and accumulated experience.
Onisifor Ghibu High School – modern laboratories for students
Three physics and chemistry laboratories have been renovated and equipped with modern equipment, specialised furniture and digital technologies. Around 1,200 students can now conduct experiments in better and safer conditions, and the institution also has a modern food service facility.
Local entrepreneurs – consultancy, mentoring and funding
The Orhei Business Support Centre provides training and consultancy to small and medium-sized enterprises, with particular attention to rural areas. Since 2018, the centre has organised 24 training sessions for 284 participants, provided consultancy to 175 SMEs and included 12 entrepreneurs in mentoring programmes.
Robotix School – bringing technology closer to children in Orhei
With a €10,000 European investment, the Robotix branch in Orhei was equipped with construction sets, sensors, motors, tablets and mini programming hubs. Children learn to build and program robots, developing their logical thinking and creativity.
Social services in Ghetlova and Isacova
In Ghetlova, a social canteen provides free meals to people in vulnerable situations. In Isacova, the social enterprise “Angelus Agro”, created with support from the EU and Sweden, is developing a small poultry farm and supporting the work of the Hospice Angelus Moldova Foundation.
VIVACAR PLUS – modern automotive services
VIVACAR PLUS received a European grant of 192,000 lei through the “Start for Youth” program. With this funding, the car repair shop in Hîncești was equipped with modern tools and equipment necessary to provide faster and better services.
