With EU Support, a Business in Strășeni Has Tripled Its Production Capacity

12/10/2026

Ion Paraschiv’s company, based in Pănășești village, Strășeni district, processes wood and manufactures laminate flooring for export to the Baltic countries and Italy. To meet growing demand and fulfil orders faster, the entrepreneur invested in an automated production line that has increased output and made the manufacturing process more efficient.

“We used to cut two cubic metres of logs per day, but with the new machine, we cut 6–7,” explains Ion Paraschiv, comparing the performance of the new equipment with the old machinery.

The upgrade has also changed the way the work is organised. Previously, four to five employees were needed to operate the equipment, including to turn and secure the logs. Now, the entire process is automated, and only two people are needed to operate the new production line.

The new equipment also allows the company to prepare export orders much faster and improve production efficiency.

“With the old equipment, it took us a month and a half to prepare a truckload for export. Now, we do it in two weeks,” says the entrepreneur.

The equipment cost more than one million lei, of which 346,000 lei was provided as a grant through the “Creștem IMM” programme, managed by the Organisation for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA). The support has encouraged the entrepreneur to plan further investments.

His next goal is to purchase a wood-drying unit and a calibrator, which would allow him to process timber further and turn it into a nearly finished product with higher added value.

The grants are provided by the Government of the Republic of Moldova from the state budget, with financial support from the European Union through the Growth Plan for Moldova.
