Financing opportunities for rural areas in the Republic of Moldova

23 Local Action Groups (LAGs), with the support of Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova and the National LEADER Network of the Republic of Moldova, launched the call for proposals for representatives of the public, entrepreneurial and civic sectors which operate in their micro-region.

The purpose of the call is to contribute to the local economic development, thus raising the living standard of the population in the LAG territory based on the LEADER * approach. Residents of over 200 villages in the Republic of Moldova had the opportunity to access grants provided by the 23 LAGs for ideas related to (i) strengthening and diversifying the rural economy, (ii) improving public services and infrastructure, (iii) protecting and promoting heritage local cultural and natural.

LAGs provide small grants from MDL 20,000.00 to MDL 120,000.00 per project for the initiatives that support the implementation of the LAG’s Local Development Strategy. It is estimated that approximately 8-15 project ideas will be funded per LAG, which at national level will be around 250 micro-projects. The Local Action Groups have a budget ranging between MDL 625,000.00 and MDL 875,000.00, money provided by the European Union and Polish Aid, within the LEADER-EU 2020 Rural Development Fund.

The program for financing rural development projects within the Local Action Groups is implemented with the support of the European Union and Polish Aid, within the LEADER-EU 2020 Rural Development Fund of the project “LEADER approach for rural prosperity in Moldova”, implemented by Solidarity PL Fund in Moldova in partnership with the National LEADER Network of the Republic of Moldova. The strategic partner of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of the Republic of Moldova.
