President of Lithuania visited Europe Café

Europe Café hosted the meeting of the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, with the representatives of the civil society from the Republic of Moldova. The event took place in the context of His Excellency’s visit to the Republic of Moldova on May 13 and 14, 2021 – the first visit of a Lithuanian president to our country in the last six years. During his visit, the President stressed the importance of Moldovan NGOs in the process of consolidating democracy.

“Young, active and professional people, determined to bring change to their country – these are the representatives of Moldovan NGOs, with whom I spoke today at Europe Café in Chisinau. Among them are historians that investigate the crimes of the Soviet regime and groups of experts fighting corruption and misinformation, defending human rights and freedom of the press. I believe that the ardor and determination of these people, who sincerely love their country, will contribute to the consolidation of democratic institutions and democratic processes in the country” the Lithuanian official wrote on his Facebook page.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Peter Michalko, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova, Kestutis Kudzmanas.
