EU for Sustainable, Innovative, Green and Competitive Economy (EU4SMEs)

Project Description

The "EU for SMEs" project, funded by the European Union with €8 million in non-reimbursable grants, aims to improve the investment climate, employability, and access to finance for SMEs, with a particular focus on rural areas and women-led businesses. Implemented by the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA) from 2023 to 2026, the project supports national SME programmes to modernise businesses, adopt European environmental and quality standards, and enhance energy efficiency. It also promotes rural tourism, youth entrepreneurship, and business resilience, while providing advisory services, mentoring, and entrepreneurship education. By fostering sustainable and inclusive economic growth, "EU for SMEs" strengthens Moldova’s economy and advances its integration with the EU economic area.

Specific Objective

• To contribute to resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economic development as well as pave the way to a fully-fledged Green Deal for the Republic of Moldova
• Improved investment climate, trade opportunities, employability, and conducive environment for SMEs
• SMEs are supported in a gender-sensitive way, including to seize new opportunities in high-growth potential areas such as agriculture, industrial production, greening of the economy and digital markets and to have better access to finance.

Expected Results

• Support at least 300 enterprises in creating, developing, expanding, or internationalising their businesses.
• Ensure at least 50% of supported enterprises take advantage of new opportunities in sectors with high growth potential.
• Cover rural areas with 80% of the supported enterprises.
• Achieve 30% female management among beneficiaries across all EU co-financed programmes.
