Local partnerships for energy efficiency in social services

Project Description
The 36-month project “Local Partnerships for energy efficiency in social services” is aiming to enable local civil society organisations to engage as actors of development of energy efficient communities in Moldova (including in Gagauzia and the right bank Security Zone). The action will constitute a follow-up on two previous actions focused on the creation or development of social services funded by the EU and co-funded and implemented by the Soros Foundation Moldova and partner organisations. As a result of these two actions more than 80 services have been created and developed, improved or extended nationwide. Some of these social service providers need further improvements in their energy efficiency. Most of them would benefit greatly from access to renewable energy sources. Still, the proposed action envisages conducting a thorough launch an open call to invite all interested social service providers nationwide. The above-mentioned EU projects were built partially as a continuation of the "Community for All Moldova" programme (C4All Moldova) including other distinctive groups of beneficiaries as well: persons from vulnerable groups.
Specific Objective
SO1: To build strong partnerships between CSOs and Local Public Authorities (LPAs) in at least 35 target local communities for the development and implementation of the energy efficiency measures.
SO2: To develop renovation strategies aiming to facilitate the cost-effective transformation of at least 35 existing buildings where community-based social services are provided into nearly zero- energy buildings.
SO3: To support awareness activities on the necessity for energy transition to determine citizens from target local communities to adopt responsible behaviour.
Expected Results
1. Strong partnerships built between CSOs and PAs for the development and implementation of energy efficiency measures
2. Community-based services provided in nearly zero-emission buildings increase the resilience of service providers towards energy crisis.
3. Local communities are aware and adopt responsible behaviour towards energy transition.
