The project, funded by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), will provide 100 grants of about 3 million euros to the Civil Society Organisations, which operate outside Chisinau during the period 2019-2021.

The project “Grassroots Civil Society Development Facility in the Republic of Moldova” aims to support Civil Society Organizations in their activity of promoting the principles of Good Governance.

The purpose of the Project is to contribute to the development of local civil society in the Republic of Moldova that promotes and monitors the transparency and accountability of public institutions, including in the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.

- To initiate and to strengthen existing civil society partnerships in good governance with an enhanced grass-roots CSOs involvement, including in the implementation of the Association Agreement (AA).
- To capacitate grass-roots CSOs to hold public authorities at national and local levels transparent and accountable in order to ensure good governance.
- To involve grass-roots CSOs in local communities’ development and citizens’ mobilization to resolve community problems thus increasing their civic ownership.

- Number and impact level of CSO networks and cooperation platforms with public authorities and other socio-economic actors, contributing to the implementation of the AA have increased.
- Capacities of grass-roots CSOs to be actively involved in policy/decision making and to apply monitoring tools to scrutinise, oversee and hold accountable authorities are strengthened.
- Number of civic initiatives targeting community development and addressing community problems has increased.
