In this edition, we would like you to meet the Edinet Euro Club that recently joined the EU Information Centres network. Europe Café continues to be a discussion platform for High Level Officials, Civil Society, Mass Media, and young citizen who share the European Values.

+1 Euro Club for the
EU Info Centres Network

On 20 February 2022, Europe Café welcomed the Euro club of „Pan Halippa” Lyceum, Edinet. It’s the last club to join the Euro Club. The group of pupils, members of the Euro club, had the chance to learn first hand about the EU funded projects and about the specific activity of the EU Information Centers and Euro Clubs in Moldova.

Interesting facts:

  • 1st EU Info Centre in Chisinau was opened in 2007 within the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu”
  • Currently there are 16 EU info Centres and 13 Euro clubs active in the Republic of Moldova
  • There is only one Euro club located in a village – the Sircova Gymnasium, Rezina

On 3 March, in the light of the latest events, Europe Café opened its doors to Mr. Josep Borrell Fontelles, Vice-president of the European Commission & High representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Mr. Olivér Várhelyi, Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During their visit, the officials highlighted the European Union’s full support to the Republic of Moldova in addressing the refugee crisis and humanitarian assistance. More on that right here.

On the same day, Europe Café offered a platform for discussion for H.E. Mr. Jean Yves Le Drian, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic and H.E. Mr. Janez Lenarčič, European Commissioner for Crisis Management, with representatives of NGOs about the €5 million to be allocated by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova to support the management of the refugee crisis through humanitarian aid and the strengthening of social services.
