The EU celebrated Moldova’s ethnic diversity at “Etno Fest Taraclia”

17/09/2024

The European Union, along with the Inotek teams and the Organisation for the Development of Entrepreneurship (ODA), celebrated Moldova’s rich ethnic diversity and shared insights about the values and culture of EU countries.

At the joint tent of Europe Café and the EU’s strategic partners, we provided information on EU-funded entrepreneurship and education programmes, while also offering visitors the chance to explore European history and culture through interactive games and quizzes. Additionally, each guest took a virtual journey, using VR glasses, through some of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Every year at the “Etno Fest”, various ethnic groups from across Moldova come together in Taraclia, located in the south, to present and celebrate their unique cultures. This year marks the festival’s 23rd edition.

The event offers ethnic communities an opportunity to showcase their music, dances, crafts, and cuisine, as well as other elements of their cultural heritage. The main aim of the festival is to promote dialogue and understanding among different groups, while preserving and recognising the uniqueness of each ethnic culture in Moldova. The festival also features a concert, where participants display their traditional costumes, jewellery, and foods, along with showcasing their customs and traditions.

Visitors are treated to music and dance performances and can also participate in various workshops and competitions.

With each passing year, the festival attracts a growing number of participants and spectators, including visitors from abroad. The “Etno Fest” Taraclia 2024 was organised on 14 September.
