The European Union supports a shared cultural space on both banks of the Nistru river

The European Union invites you to an exhibition dedicated to the artist Boris Ogli, born in Tighina (Bender) and educated at the Republican School of Fine Arts “I. E. Repin” in Chisinau.

“Boris Ogli’s Cosmos” is an exhibition that encourages cultural dialogue between both sides of the Nistru River. The opening is organised through the Culture Platform, with financial support from the European Union, provided through the “Confidence Building Measures” programme, implemented by UNDP.

The exhibition is a retrospective in memory of the artist Boris Ogli (1962–2021), who was born in Tighina (Bender) and educated at the Republican School of Fine Arts “I. E. Repin” in Chisinau.

The title refers to one of the recurring themes in Ogli’s work – the Cosmos. He created a series of stamps on this theme, with the cosmos symbolising his inner universe, which the exhibition seeks to portray through unique artefacts reflecting both his life and artistic achievements.

The opening offers a glimpse into the personal universe of the visual artist and will take place in two consecutive locations – Chisinau and Tighina (Bender) – as part of a project aimed at strengthening a shared cultural space on both banks of the Nistru River.

Active in philately in Tiraspol and Tighina (Bender), and in painting in Chisinau, Boris Ogli combined various creative forms, participating in major cultural events in Chisinau. He collaborated with the artists of the “Fantom” group, shared a workshop with them, and worked frequently with the Union of Plastic Artists of the Republic of Moldova and KSA.

The exhibition will be open to the public until 3 October 2024 at the Chisinau City History Museum.
