Thousands of people will get access to better water and sewage services

The European Union and its Member States bring a tangible contribution to the improvement of the life of citizens from the Republic of Moldova. The EU Ambassador, Jānis Mažeiks, underlined the commitment from the European Union to support the development of rural areas in the country during his visit to Cantemir, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and sewer system. With assistance from European Union and partners from the Austrian Development Cooperation, around 5,000 people will benefit from improved water supply services. The event also marked the finalisation of the EU funded Development of Rural Areas in the Republic of Moldova project, co-funded and implemented by the Austrian Development Agency.  

The visit of EU Ambassador to Cantemir included also a tour of Kindergarten no.1, which benefit of EU support to improve its energy efficiency systems. The EU CanTREB project provided assistance in this respect, which created better conditions for more than 1000 children and staff.
