The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the Head of Parliament, Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and EU Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks expressed their apperciation to the approximately 35 thousand civil servants of the Republic of Moldova for the work they do. 120 civil servants from the central and local public administration were awarded the Government Diploma of Honour.

The festive event, marking Civil Servant’s Day, aimed to appreciate the role of civil servants in society, encourage performance and professionalism, stimulate dialogue and cooperation between public authorities in order to develop a modern, efficient and citizen-oriented administration.

President Maia Sandu urged public sector employees to continue working with dedication: “Moldova can and must have a fair, efficient and respected administration – and you are the key to this transformation. We are living in challenging times, but we also have a historic opportunity – to put Moldova in a safe place, in the European Union. The success of this path depends on each of us: on a job well done, on respect for people and on the courage to move forward, together. Our country needs professionals who believe in it, who care for it and who contribute to the common good”, said the official.

The Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, specified that, in the process of negotiation and accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, an important task will be to communicate and explain to citizens the decisions adopted, which will benefit everyone.

The Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks, stated: “The European Union recognises the vital role Moldova’s civil servants play in shaping the country’s European future. Their commitment and professionalism have been key to the impressive progress made since the start of accession negotiations. The road ahead may be challenging — but Moldova’s public administration has the drive and capacity to lead this transformation. Moldova is not alone in this journey. The EU stands firmly beside its public service to help deliver the reforms that bring the country closer to the European Union and improve the lives of its citizens”.
