Cimișlia: A Social Laundry for People in Need

Washing clothes can become a challenge for people on low incomes, older people living alone or those with limited mobility. In Cimișlia, a social laundry was established to address these needs by providing free laundry and hygiene services to vulnerable people.
When the service was launched, it was intended to support more than 200 people, including 40 bedridden individuals. For those unable to visit the laundry, social workers and volunteers arrange for laundry to be collected and delivered to their homes.
The service was developed by the “PRODOCS” Association in partnership with local authorities under the project “Promoting CSOs as Partners in the Development of Resilient Social Services.” The project is funded by the European Union, co-financed and implemented by Keystone Moldova, Dorcas Moldova and the Association for Education “Neoumanist”.
Beyond the equipment and the adapted premises, the investment provides practical assistance: people facing hardship can meet a basic need free of charge, while those unable to travel are not deprived of access to the service.
