Warmer homes in Bălți – modernizing networks to avoid energy losses

Better heating means not only producing energy, but also transporting it to apartments without losses. The project “Thermal Energy System of the Municipality of Bălți. Phase II” aims to modernize distribution, improve services, and restore domestic hot water supply.

In October 2022, an agreement was signed for a 2 million euro grant from the E5P fund, to which the European Union is the largest contributor. The funding is not an exclusive European grant: E5P brings together contributions from several countries and the European Union. The plan includes horizontal distribution in over 296 buildings, individual heating substations in 166 buildings, modernization of water treatment, and digitalization for faster detection of leaks and faults. At least 37,000 residents in Bălți will benefit from the improved system. The project entails significant energy and water savings.
