“Dimitrie Cantemir” High School – insulated building, solar energy, and reduced bills

At the “Dimitrie Cantemir” High School, the European Union’s investment was directed toward things that directly influence a school day: classroom temperature, indoor air, building safety, and kitchen conditions. The institution, renovated with EU assistance, was inaugurated on September 21, 2023, following work carried out from December 2020 to August 2023.

The energy efficiency project had a value of approximately 24 million lei and was financed by the European Union. Separately, the Bălți City Hall allocated 4.6 million lei for interior rehabilitation. A total of 3,287 m² of the building envelope was thermally insulated, and 25 photovoltaic panels with a total power of 10 kW were installed. The high school received ventilation and fire protection systems, an access ramp for people with disabilities, and new kitchen equipment. At the inauguration, over 1,000 students, teachers, and auxiliary staff were benefiting from the improved conditions at the school. Thanks to the energy efficiency works, an estimated 62% reduction in annual normalized energy consumption is expected.
