Empowering young entrepreneurs: new EU support to entrepreneurship development in the Republic of Moldova
At least 10 civil society organisations from across Moldova will be empowered to develop the entrepreneurial skills of the country’s young people. A new project “Empowerment of youth entrepreneurship in Moldova”, funded by the European Union and implemented by the association Help-Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. (Germany), in partnership with local organisations DEMOS, HOMECARE and Pro Cooperare Regională, has been launched recently. The project will support the initiatives of around 200 young people by providing them with the necessary tools and skills to develop their own businesses.
“By investing in young entrepreneurs, the European Union supports the sustainable and inclusive development of the Republic of Moldova. This project represents a firm commitment to help create new economic opportunities and strengthen civil society in Moldova,” stated Jānis Mažeiks, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
The project “Empowerment of youth entrepreneurship in Moldova” aims to help local Civil Society Organisations improve their internal capacities and skills that are necessary to achieve their missions. Concrete activities in the project include training, coaching, mentoring, facilitation of networking and dissemination of best practices, in addition to one specific sub-granting component for starting or support the development of small and micro businesses of youth.
The Moldovan Civil Society Organisations, interested to contribute to the development of youth entrepreneurship, can apply for the first Call for grants, which is currently open until 16 August 2023, 24:00 (local time). The overall amount made available under this Call for proposals is EUR 600,000. Indicative allocation of funds by geographical distribution is:
- North Moldova (districts of: Edineț, Drochia, Soroca, Fălești, Florești, Rîșcani, Sîngerei, Briceni, Dondușeni, Glodeni, Ocnița and Bălți Municipality): EUR 180,000
- Central Moldova and Transnistria (districts of: Anenii Noi, Călărași, Criuleni, Dubăsari, Hîncești, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Orhei, Rezina, Strășeni, Șoldănești, Telenești, Ungheni, Chisinau municipality and region of Transnistria): EUR 240,000
- South Moldova (districts of: Leova, Cantemir, Cahul, Taraclia, Basarabeasca, Cimișlia, Căușeni, Ștefan-Vodă and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia): EUR 180,000
