FAQ

What is Europe Café?

Europe Café is a unique space in the capital, located in a historic landmark building—an ideal place for meetings and discussions. It is a place where ideas flow freely, and the values of European unity blend seamlessly with tradition and progress. Europe Café is where you can discover what the European Union means in the Republic of Moldova. All you have to do is step inside—the rest is taken care of by us.

How does Europe Café work?

Europe Café was designed as a space to connect people. Cultural events and themed conferences, debate clubs and personal development activities, interactive installations and film screenings, exhibitions, books, and magazines—no matter your age or interests, there is a place for everyone at Europe Café! Access is free and open to anyone who wants to discover the European Union.

Who is welcome at Europe Café?

We welcome everyone who wants to learn more about the European Union and its member countries, those who see their future connected to the European spirit, as well as those who may view the EU with some skepticism. The doors of Europe Café are open to all! Here, you can learn firsthand about the relationship between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, and how, thanks to European support, Moldova and the lives of its citizens are changing day by day.

We also invite those who, at Europe Café, will share with others their experiences and achievements made possible through European cooperation and support in Moldova. This includes EU projects and their beneficiaries, journalists debating the most pressing international issues offline, and young people who studied in the EU and returned home to contribute to the country’s development. The 27 member states of the European Union also play a special role: through their presence and contributions at Europe Café, they naturally reflect the unity in diversity and the values of Europe.

When did Europe Café start its activities?

Europe Café opened its doors on October 1, 2020, with a photography exhibition by Igor Schimbător, who captured in his images the impact of European Union support on the lives of people in the Republic of Moldova.

This marked the beginning of a wonderful tradition of bringing art closer to the public and talking about European values in an accessible and authentic way. In partnership with the Cartego bookstore and gallery, we periodically showcase works by local artists, many of which have already been featured in European institutions or international exhibitions.

Why are we called Europe Café?

Because we want every meeting, discussion, or event to feel as natural as a coffee break—relaxed, honest, and with a genuine curiosity to learn from each other. We look forward to welcoming you!
