Comisarul European Johannes Hahn a sărbătorit Ziua Europei la Chișinău

European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, was on a visit to Chișinău at the invitation of President Maia Sandu. Johannes Hahn commemorated the victims of World War II, took to the stage at the Great National Assembly Square where he addressed Moldovans celebrating Europe Day, met with over a hundred young people, visited the most important EU information center, Europe Café, and accepted the invitation from media representatives to discuss Moldova’s European path and the funds it could benefit from once negotiations begin.

The Commissioner began his visit at the Eternity Memorial in Chișinău, where he paid tribute to those who suffered and fought to defend the fundamental values of the European continent. “War only brings destruction and suffering, and unity is essential to ensure that peace and life always triumph,” he declared.

Maia Sandu awarded Commissioner Hahn the “Order of Honor.” The distinction was conferred as a token of gratitude for his significant contribution to strengthening collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. Additionally, the European Commissioner was decorated for his support of Moldova’s European path and promotion of Moldova’s interests within EU institutions, as well as for the substantial support provided in enhancing Moldova’s economic resilience.

Johannes Hahn addressed the crowd gathered in the heart of Chișinău at the Great National Assembly Square, celebrating European values and Moldova’s European path.

“The Europe Day is a celebration for all those who cherish and defend the European Union of peace, stability, and prosperity on our continent. Therefore, it is especially a celebration for the people of the Republic of Moldova,” mentioned European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, on the occasion of the inauguration of the European Town in Chișinău.
