Young Professionals of the Joint Internship Programmes Explore EU Integration Process

26/08/2025

A new thematic information session for interns of the two parallel programmes, was held today at Europe Café, as part of the capacity-building activities of the EU-supported Internship Programme.

At the start, interns were introduced to Europe Café, the main European Union information point in Chisinau. The centre serves as a hub for communication and visibility of the EU, providing information about the EU, its Member States, and the cooperation with Moldova. Interns were familiarized with the space, which welcomes everyone — from those curious about the EU and its history, to those seeking first-hand information on how EU support is improving citizens’ daily lives.

The information session gathered over 30 interns and was chaired by Irina Cruceru, Programme Manager at the EU Delegation to Moldova. Topics included the EU accession process and the institutions of the European Union. Interns explored EU mechanisms and structures, engaged in Q&A, and gained insights to help them contribute to building the country’s European future.

The EU–Government of Moldova Joint Internship Programme offers young professionals two months of hands-on experience in public administration and a 200-euro monthly scholarship funded by the EU. Interns gain practical exposure to public service by working closely with public servants and EU High Level Advisers, attending interactive training sessions, visiting key institutions, and engaging with senior officials and European experts. The programme builds the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for careers in public administration and policy-making, while contributing to Moldova’s European future. Since its launch as a pilot initiative in 2022, more than 190 young people have participated in the Programme, 17 of whom are now employed in Moldovan public institutions.
