Varnita Health Center that Provides Medical Services for People from both banks of the Nistru River (Confidence Building Measures)

Project Description
The Health Care Center from Varnita village has become more spacious as a new annex with physiotherapy wards, diagnosis rooms and family doctors’ offices was built. Now, more than 13 000 people – locals and also from Tiraspol, Bender or Slobozia will receive consultations and day care without staying in queues for hours. The new annex was built with the financial support of the European Union in the framework of the Support to Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the UNDP.

Specific Objective
- To enhance confidence between people living on both banks of the Nistru River by involving local leaders, representatives of business environment and civil society in joint projects of business development and social infrastructure improvement.
Expected Results
- The extension of the Health Centre offers improved conditions for treatment for villagers as well as patients from neighbouring communities, notably from the left bank of the Nistru River.
- The annex will host five new medical offices, including ones for family physicians, physiotherapy wards, and a room with USG diagnostic equipment.
- Over 12 000 people living on both banks of the Nistru River will receive improved medical services in modern and safe conditions.
- The extension of the Health Center addresses the needs of the community and creates a sustainable environment to enhance the trust and cooperation between people.
