Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights

Project Description
The Project is split into six Components. The first Component concerns the raising of awareness about the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR) and the impact of IPR crime on society. Whilst the second to fifth Components involve the development of an IT system to enhance the IPR enforcement. Finally, the sixth Component relates to the promotion of Geographical Indications.
Specific Objective
- To improve the communication and co-ordination of agencies involved in implementing the laws and regulations of the IPR.
- To develop an IT Communication Platform on IPR.
- To build a Programme of cultural change in the intellectual property environment.
- To consolidate the Geographical Indications System.
Expected Results
- Improved communication and effectiveness of IP enforcement in Moldova.
- Communication system set-up between the main contributors to IP protection.
- Improved competence and effectiveness of all staff and officials involved in IP enforcement and the wider group of participants in IP rights.
- Improved awareness of the rights and obligations of the IP community in Moldova.
- Products identified which do or could benefit from protection of GI, improved Geographical Indication System in the Republic of Moldova.
