The National Philharmonic “Serghei Lunchevici” celebrates European Music Day with an inspirational concert
The European Music Day was celebrated on the 21 June – a day dedicated to the power of this art. The European Music Day is an international occasion to honour musicians for their contribution towards making everything more melodious. In many big cities free concerts are organised to mark this day.
The European Music Day was first celebrated in France in 1982 and, since 1985, Music Day has become a widely celebrated European day, where people discover all kinds of music genres.
On this occasion, the European Union provided support to the “Serghei Lunchevici” National Philharmonic in organising the closing concert of the jubilee season of 2020 – 2021.
The concerned titled “On the ruins of the Philharmonic,” was streamed online and constituted a tribute to music and to the Philharmonic’s building. Previously, the European Union stood by the National Philharmonic, when its building tragically caught on fire and was destroyed in September 2020. Back then, the Delegation of the European Union stood by and helped the National Philharmonic with the organisation of a concert in support of the musicians who lost not only their permanent place of work, but also a place very dear to their soul.
